Information Notice under the Turkish Data Protection Law (KVKK)

This notice is provided under Article 10 of Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (“KVKK”) for clients who contact us from Türkiye and for visitors to our website. How we process your data under UK law is set out in our Privacy and Cookie Policy.

1. Data controller

The data controller is City Nest Accommodation Ltd (“City Nest”), registered in England and Wales under company number 15347295. Registered office: 12 Old Bond Street, Mayfair, London W1S 4PW. Our representative in Türkiye acts only on behalf of and on the instructions of City Nest to handle your enquiry. Contact: hello@citynest.uk.

2. Personal data we process

• Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number.
• Enquiry details: the service you are interested in, city, start date, duration, visa type, your message.
• Documents needed for applications and bookings, such as passport and education details (only when you send them).
• Correspondence: emails and WhatsApp messages, and the quotes we prepare for you.
• Security data: IP address, browser information and server logs.

3. Purposes

• To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote,
• To handle your language school, accommodation and visa arrangements, including passing your application to the school or accommodation provider you choose,
• To manage contracts and payments and to meet our legal obligations,
• To keep our website secure and prevent misuse.

4. How we collect data and legal grounds

We collect your data electronically or on paper through the forms on our website, email, phone, WhatsApp and in-person meetings. We process it on the grounds set out in Article 5 of the KVKK: where it is directly necessary to enter into or perform a contract, to comply with our legal obligations, to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, and for our legitimate interests provided that your fundamental rights and freedoms are not harmed. Where none of these applies (for example optional cookies for maps and videos), we ask for your explicit consent.

5. Transfers, including outside Türkiye

Because City Nest is based in the United Kingdom, your data is transferred abroad by the nature of the service. We share it only as far as necessary to provide the service: with the language schools and accommodation providers you apply to, the relevant authorities during visa applications, our representative in Türkiye and service providers working for us (hosting, database, email). Transfers abroad are made in line with Article 9 of the KVKK: where necessary to perform the contract, and with appropriate safeguards or your explicit consent where required.

6. Retention

We keep your data for as long as the purpose requires and for the periods required by law, then delete, destroy or anonymise it. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to 2 years; records of services you have used are kept for up to 6 years for accounting purposes.

7. Your rights (KVKK Article 11)

• To learn whether your personal data is processed and, if so, to request information about it,
• To learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly,
• To know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad to whom it is transferred,
• To ask for incomplete or inaccurate data to be corrected, and for data to be deleted or destroyed under the conditions of the KVKK, and for these actions to be notified to the third parties it was transferred to,
• To object to a result against you arising solely from automated analysis,
• To claim compensation if you suffer damage because of unlawful processing.

8. How to apply

To exercise your rights, send your request with information that confirms your identity by email to hello@citynest.uk or in writing to our registered office. We will respond free of charge within 30 days at the latest. If your request is refused or you find our answer insufficient, you may complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK Kurulu).
